Of course we are being used as leverage so the lakers draft Bronny…but every leverage play also has a back up plan.

Whether it’s 22 or we trade back and pick up extra assets, I percent believe Bronny is on our radar. Could we trade back with the Knicks or Twolves and get an extra 2nd, use our 1st on Bronny, then have the Second round pick be a James Jones special? Yep.

I think getting Bronny drafted in the 1st round is important to the Klutch team, and I think Ishbia willing to help if that means Lebron is coming next year. Let Bronny spend most of the year on our new G-League team while still being a 1st round pick is something the Klutch team will be fine with.

Best case scenario is the Lakers hire JJ Reddick, draft Bronny at 17 and keep deteriorating around LBJ and AD.

Wally might be on the right track with a 2 yr plan for LBJ. As much money as LBJ has, I just can't him, or most anyone, else walking away from $50mil. But I also think LBJ has plans to retire in Cleveland.

Think of it as spending $50 million. Actually probably more like $30 million after agent share, taxes, etc.

He’s a billionaire. Is it inconceivable that he’d spend $30M to play with his son and maybe get his son a ring? It’s 3% of his net worth.

Look at how much of a pay cut Karl Malone took to ring chase with the Lakers, adjust for inflation, consider their relative net worths, add in the variable of his son… It’s not crazy.

Lakers just want their first rounder, probably use their second round pick. LBJ wants his son to have a guaranteed contract that’ll keep him in the league and a development plan. That only happens if they play together. Otherwise he’ll just be in the G league or in drafted.
Bronny’s ceiling is probably Jevon Carter.

What are people’s thoughts on DaRon Holmes? Local kid and he’s a stretch 4/5. Reading about him he sounds like what we need. Haven’t watched any film though.

Here’s the ringer write-up:

He’s just figuring out how to play in his body. He was listed at 6-foot-8 as a high school senior, then sprouted to 6-foot-10 at Dayton. He is now around 230 pounds, with a long wingspan and explosive leaping ability.

Shot blocking is his best defensive skill. He’s agile in small spaces and perceptive; he keeps his head on a swivel and hustles for second and third efforts on possessions. He also can step out as a disruptive perimeter defender who slides his feet with his arms spread wide.

Intelligent player who embraces his role as a screener, cutter, and rim runner. He always boxes out. After defensive stops he’ll instantly sprint up the floor and have his hands up to catch passes. And if he doesn't receive the ball, he doesn't mope.

His 3-point percentage is way up. He shot 26.9 percent over his first two seasons, but he’s at 43.6 percent this year on quadruple the attempts per game. His form looks a tad quicker and smoother than the elongated release he used in previous years.

Excellent pick-and-roll finisher who sets strong screens at the proper angles and has great timing on his rolls to the rim. He also has soft hands that allow him to catch tough passes and the athleticism to finish powerful dunks.

Dayton uses him in the middle against zone defenses, which displays his ability to serve as a short-roll playmaker, dishing passes. He is mostly a straight-line driver, but he shows potential when attacking from the elbows to get to the basket.

Though he lacks advanced footwork in the post, he’s good enough to beat mismatches at the next level. He could punish a switching defense by sealing off a smaller defender under the rim.
MINUSES
Limited experience playing against top competition. NBA offenses will be a major adjustment for him in terms of speed, especially since he frequently gets pulled out into switches at the college level. He’s effective at getting stops at that level, but the pros are a different monster.

Cutting down on turnovers should be a priority. He telegraphs too many passes and he’ll sometimes dribble himself into trouble. He’s a bit robotic, pounding the ball with his right hand in a way that could get him stripped by NBA defenders.

Is his shooting improvement for real? This season he’s shooting an outlier number from 3, but his free throw percentage isn’t notably improved and is still below 70 percent.

I really hope we keep our pick at this point…or better yet, move it for multiple picks. I’ve gotten invested again in the draft haha.

With our first pick I want a big(Kel’el Ware, DaRon Holmes II, Yves Missi) I think I’m leaning Holmes at the moment, but I think all 3 could be useful.

If we add a 2nd pick or just trade out of the 1st in general, there are some wings I like(Sceierman, McCullar, Klintman).

I do also like Da Silva, but not sure he makes it to 22. I’ll need Inf to talk about Tyler Smith who he has 1 on his suns board. Can he be the big we need? I wouldn’t even hate Kolek if he’s our 2nd pick.

Enrique Freeman, Melvin Ajinca, Jalen Bridges are some other interesting 2nd round or UDFA guys.

Are we waiting on the Pelicans' to decide if they are going to take the '24 Lakers 1st round pick? Because, if they do, then the only pick right now that the Lakers could take Bronny with is in the 2nd round. That is, unless they trade into the 1st round. The drama will be fun to watch.

The Suns are in a precarious position as they attempt to construct a contender around their trio of highly paid stars. Phoenix is spending more aggressively than any team in the league and has also traded away control of its future drafts with picks and swap rights outgoing through 2030.

Expect the Suns to look for a ready-made contributor at the No. 22 pick, with Filipowski's size (7-0 and 230 pounds) and skill level adding a potentially useful dimension to their frontcourt. Filipowski's range is also somewhat wide at this point, running toward the end of the first round. Phoenix also has a glaring need for a true point guard, which is something it will likely consider here as well. -- Woo

Holmes, sure.

I'm not seeing it with Missi. My opinion is based solely on Youtube highlights, but he seems like pure catch and finish athleticism with limited skills and decision making. He dribbles like a 3rd grader. You'd be counting on some significant player development to get him to a place where he can help a contending team.
