Jalen Bridges does seem like a James Jones clone…we do need some wing size and a pg…I think we’ll see both of those addressed in free agency. Bridges and Dunn are both 6’8(with shoes) and Oso is 6’11, so we have added size in the draft.
You can hope that Dunn and Bridges contribute, but you can't put yourself in a position to have to rely on that. It so backwards. The org poo poos the draft, but is then going try to say that they've addressed critical needs with a late first rounder and mid second rounder?!

4 if we don’t bring back Josh or Bol…I’ll guess we get 1 of them, so 3 spots…I’d look at dumping Roddy to create another spot.
They can also waive Damion Lee.

I don't see any reason to bring back Okogie. I still like him, but the Suns have too many holes to justify having both Dunn and Okogie.

Fair…we also haven’t seen what the suns do in free agency yet, so might be getting ahead of ourselves…they could sign Kris Dunn, Nic Batum, and Mo Bamba tomorrow for all we know.

I also don’t want Okogie back…Dunn replaces him imo. We are already going to be short on roster spots.

He can’t sign a 2-way anymore, so I think he’s likely gone.

I hate all these new rules, thanks a lot CJ McCollum, you ruined it for everyone.

The new restrictions are tough, but Ishbia tells us the understand them perfectly and know what they're doing. So need to worry.

2nd apron spending makes sense if you are investing in a proven team and draft well. Take OKC. If they keep all of their guys, they will be far north of the 2nd apron, but they'll paying for a team that has played together, grown together, and won. Plus the front office is committed to drafting, and that's the one thing the 2nd apron rules doesn't/can't stop.

What is foolish is trying take a mediocre team and try to 2nd-apron-spend your way to a championship.

In general, I'm sure the NBA is hoping to emulate what the NFL has tried to do. I just don't know if that will work. The roster construction in the NBA is just too different in than the NFL. There are so many areas of impact on an NFL team where you can have a star, so the hard cap helps to redistribute top talent around the league. I don't think the new rules in the NBA redistribute top talent; I think it will just lead to teams not being able to retain mid-level players, who will then get overpaid by teams that don't have legit stars. That doesn't create better teams, which it turn doesn't lead to quality parity.

Man the rules are messed up. I wish they would let me come in and rewrite them.

He doesn’t get an option on a second year?

Gotta admit, I'm not that excited about seeing the same roleplayers being brought back. I get the pickings are slim and maybe Bud will work some magic but relying on the same guys as last year doesn't inspire confidence.

Well so far we’ve only brought back Bol and Royce…we’ll see on Okogie…appears Eubanks and Gordon will be replaced. Lee is up in the air, but we didn’t have him last year due to injury. I don’t see much use for Okogie, but he and Lee will likely be 3rd stringers if they come back.

Currently:

Guards: Booker, Beal, Grayson
Wings: KD, Royce, Dunn, Bol, Little, Roddy
Bigs: Nurkic, Ighodora

4 spots left(2 if Lee and Okogie come back). As long as we add a backup PG and backup C, we should really only be relying on Royce/Bol off the bench from last year.

I'm glad we brought Bol back. I used to look at him more as a circus sideshow. He proved to me he's capable of much more than that.

A meta-argument for bringing some of these guys back is, it shows other free agents this offseason that we take care of our guys. If you sign here, even for the minimum, we'll do everything we can to keep you around and even give you more money that we don't strictly need to give you. I think that's a good look for us overall especially when we had about 15-20 years of cheap-ass moves that players and agents could all see us making, nickel-and-diming players and letting players walk because of money.

They’re kind of stuck caused by their own doing, but they don’t really have a choice since they can’t sign anyone outside of the veterans minimum.

Bingo. Can't just run it back with the same mentally weak roster and suddenly expect them to turn into dogs. We're not changing the mid 3 so you have to change the guys around them. And rookies don't count.
