Like some of you, I thought it was a throwaway game, as the main players sat.
But, tired of football, I gave it a watch.
I kept waiting for Denver to pile it on, but every time the Nuggets got up to 10 or 12, the Suns cut into the lead.
Unlike the bench players of early last season, the Suns JV played with confidence and purpose.
That probably is a reflection of the coaching staff.
It will be interesting what happens with Bol and Kaminsky.
Bol had a good stat line, but there are times when he still looks a bit lost.
Kaminsky has limitations, but has more court savvy.
Denver has limited depth.
Braun should be the first or second guy off the bench, not a starter.
Jovic, Murray and Gordon are solid, but it thins out after that.
I don't see Denver getting past OKC.

He played 3.5 years of his 15 year career in Denver. That's hardly the bulk of his career, so that's why I thought I may have heard him wrong. Like, did he actually say, "Walter Davis played the bulk of the rest of his career in Denver"? I was taken back by that comment, but it could have been that he just misspoke.

No, he did. I was being sarcastic. You heard right. He just made that up out of the blue and it's patently false. Not even close.In2ition wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 1:51 pmHe played 3.5 years of his 15 year career in Denver. That's hardly the bulk of his career, so that's why I thought I may have heard him wrong. Plus, there is no such thing as the bulk of the rest of your career when you only played for one other team. I guess he played for the Blazers for a half a season in between his Denver stints. I didn't remember that. But still, he said that Davis had played the bulk of his career with Denver after being drafted by the Suns. EEEEEENNNNNNHHHHH!!!! WAY WRONG.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

If you don't make the HOF the first year you're eligible, you just shouldn't get in.

Well, here are the eligible NBA players that I think should be in the Hall. I would be pretty ruthless, even leaving out some of my favorites like Paul Westphal and Walter Davis (*denotes inducted mainly based on their amateur career, **based mainly on ABA career). Mainly I lean towards players who were MVP caliber for more than a year or two or players who were generally All-NBA 1st Team or 2nd Team most of their careers. For coaches it was mainly their win totals and winning percentage, taking championships won into consideration.
ATL - Bob Pettit, (Pete Maravich*), (Dominique Wilkins)
BOS - Larry Bird, Bob Cousy, Dave Cowens, John Havlicek, Bill Russell, coaches Red Auerbach, Tom Heinsohn, K.C. Jones
BRK - Julius Erving, Jason Kidd
CHA - None
CHI - Artis Gilmore**, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, coach Phil Jackson
CLE - None
DAL - Dirk Nowitzki
DEN - (Dan Issel**), David Thompson*
DET - Isiah Thomas, (George Yardley); coach Chuck Daly
GSW - Paul Arizin, Rick Barry, Joe Fulks, Wilt Chamberlain, Neil Johnston, Nate Thurmond
HOU - Moses Malone, Hakeem Olajuwon, Ralph Sampson*
IND - (George McGinnis**), (coach Bob Leonard**)
LAC - (Bob McAdoo)
LAL - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Elgin Baylor, Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, George Mikan, Shaquille O'Neal, Jerry West; coaches John Kundla, Pat Riley, Bill Sharman
MEM - None
MIA - (Dwyane Wade)
MIL - Coach Don Nelson, executive Wayne Embry
MIN - Kevin Garnett
NWO - None
NYK - Patrick Ewing, Walt Frazier, (Willis Reed); (coach Red Holzman)
OKC - (Gary Payton), coach Lenny Wilkens
ORL - None
PHI - Charles Barkley, Dolph Schayes; coach Billy Cunningham
PHO - (Connie Hawkins**), Steve Nash; executive Jerry Colangelo
POR - Bill Walton*
SAC - Bob Davies, Oscar Robertson
SAS - Tim Duncan, George Gervin, David Robinson
TOR - None
UTH - Karl Malone, John Stockton; coach Jerry Sloan
WAS - Elvin Hayes
Borderline choices for me are in parentheses.
Off the top of my head, some of the active players and coaches who are clearly in - Giannis Antetokounmpo, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, James Harden, LeBron James, Nikola Jokic, Chris Paul and coaches Steve Kerr, Gregg Popovich and Eric Spoelstra
That's 82 individuals (including actives) for 78 seasons, or about 1½ for every year the Hall of Fame has been open (56 years). That seems exclusive enough for me.

PS - There aren't a lot of players I would select based on their college careers alone - Hank Liusetti, Bob Kurland, George Mikan, Bill Russell,Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Lew Alcindor, Pete Maravich, Bill Walton, David Thompson, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Ralph Sampson. Tom Gola, Jerry Lucas and John Wooden come pretty close.

I missed this at first viewing. Pretty cool Dunn hustling with the veteran Westbrook and then helping him up. Later, Westbrook was talking to Dunn on the sideline. I think he respects the young buck.

Yeah, that was a nice play/moment between Dunn and Westbrook. Also, call me completely crazy, but I kind of liked the way Westbrook played for Denver. He took some horrible shots, but he ran his ass off, and he had some nice hustle plays and passes. Certainly worthy of a low-ball contract like the Nuggets gave him. He might end up being a nice piece for a team that doesn't have much depth. ... Did I just throw up in my mouth a little?
Re: Game Day (Preseason): Suns (2-1) @ Nuggets (0-2), Sun 10/13/24
Westbrook will always play hard…that’s definitely not a concern for him…as he’s aged, the bad has just started to pass up the good. We’ll see if he can make shots and take care of the ball for them when it matters.
