Jimmy Butler trade rumors
Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
The Suns have the leverage but if Ishbia is involved he's going to blink and push all his chips in to get a deal done.
Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
Irrespective the Beal / Butler situation, IMO if you have a contract with a "no-trade" clause and then you waive that clause and allow yourself to get traded, the no-trade clause should be permanently removed from the rest of your contract. You shouldn't get veto power over every trade for the next N years of your contract.
What's more, I personally think that no-trade clauses should not be allowed under the CBA. They tip the balance of power too much in favor of the player and take away too much flexibility from the team. The players get multi-year guaranteed contracts for tens of millions of dollars; that should be enough. They shouldn't also get to hijack the entire team's front office.

NBA contracts should be non guaranteed. The players hold way too much power.

Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
You guys are dreaming if you think the union is going to go for any give-backs like that. Guaranteed contracts are sacrosanct. And no-trade clauses are already limited to players with 8 years in the league and 4 years with the team that gives them the no trade clause.
The problem has always been that owners have always been hamstrung by the actions of their most impulsive members.

No fans, regardless of what direction you want the suns to take, actually want him on this team. How could he look at that and want to stay here when no one likes him?
Every fan wants him traded off that contract.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
I disagree..why should teams have all the power over players? The team doesn’t have to give out a no-trade clause. Beal and Lebron are the only 2 players with this power. In the other 400+ situations, the player has zero say when or where they are traded.
Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
I think it would’ve happened already if that was the case.

Yea I hated that the clause didn’t evaporate once he was traded here. No trade should mean… no trade.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 2:41 pmIrrespective the Beal / Butler situation, IMO if you have a contract with a "no-trade" clause and then you waive that clause and allow yourself to get traded, the no-trade clause should be permanently removed from the rest of your contract. Lol. Dunn is a piece to a finals run and future DPOY with a higher ceiling than that. This team needs both. At least we can’t trade two away.Charlie Smithy! wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 1:47 amGoodbye Ryan Dunn, from The Young Fan in the 22nd row, who sees you as something more than trade bait, and loves you more than you will ever know

You responded to me saying that. It's literally the topic, what the fans want.
Why would a player want to stay in a city where all of the fans are hoping he is traded - whether they believe in the team or want to blow it up....

You can't have players like KD and Butler just publicly doing what they have done. It's ridiculous. I love it right now because it's for Phoenix but stillThe Bobster wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 3:03 pmYou guys are dreaming if you think the union is going to go for any give-backs like that. It's a player's league. The owners have learned to accept it because it makes them a shitload of money.

Re: Jimmy Butler trade rumors
I have a feeling that this Butler trade doesn't happen and that some other trade comes out of left field that none of us were expecting. We are going to be either "This is awesome!" or "We are so screwed!". Most likely it will start out as the former and by summer it will be the latter. Mark it down.

Obviously, you know it's not all the fans. I'd be surprised if it's more than 50% who want him gone.specialsauce wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 4:07 pmNo fans, regardless of what direction you want the suns to take, actually want him on this team.Superbone wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 3:13 pmIt doesn’t matter what you or I want.specialsauce wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 1:42 pmSo you want him here?Superbone wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 1:29 pmYou are projecting there, buddy.
