The Suns have the leverage but if Ishbia is involved he's going to blink and push all his chips in to get a deal done.

Irrespective the Beal / Butler situation, IMO if you have a contract with a "no-trade" clause and then you waive that clause and allow yourself to get traded, the no-trade clause should be permanently removed from the rest of your contract. You shouldn't get veto power over every trade for the next N years of your contract.

What's more, I personally think that no-trade clauses should not be allowed under the CBA. They tip the balance of power too much in favor of the player and take away too much flexibility from the team. The players get multi-year guaranteed contracts for tens of millions of dollars; that should be enough. They shouldn't also get to hijack the entire team's front office.

NBA contracts should be non guaranteed. The players hold way too much power.

You guys are dreaming if you think the union is going to go for any give-backs like that. Guaranteed contracts are sacrosanct. And no-trade clauses are already limited to players with 8 years in the league and 4 years with the team that gives them the no trade clause.

The problem has always been that owners have always been hamstrung by the actions of their most impulsive members.

It doesn't sound like Beal is going anywhere to me. He is the captain of his ship.
Throw his ass overboard.

No fans, regardless of what direction you want the suns to take, actually want him on this team. How could he look at that and want to stay here when no one likes him?
You are projecting there, buddy. Beal is a great community guy. He has gone to the bench without kicking and screaming. He is mostly loved by his teammates, fans, and community.
So you want him here?

Every fan wants him traded off that contract.
It doesn’t matter what you or I want.

I disagree..why should teams have all the power over players? The team doesn’t have to give out a no-trade clause. Beal and Lebron are the only 2 players with this power. In the other 400+ situations, the player has zero say when or where they are traded.

Yea I hated that the clause didn’t evaporate once he was traded here. No trade should mean… no trade.

🎶 Goodbye Ryan Dunn, from The Young Fan in the 22nd row, who sees you as something more than trade bait, and loves you more than you will ever know🎵
Lol. Dunn is a piece to a finals run and future DPOY with a higher ceiling than that. This team needs both. At least we can’t trade two away.

You responded to me saying that. It's literally the topic, what the fans want.

Why would a player want to stay in a city where all of the fans are hoping he is traded - whether they believe in the team or want to blow it up....

You can't have players like KD and Butler just publicly doing what they have done. It's ridiculous. I love it right now because it's for Phoenix but still

It's a player's league. The owners have learned to accept it because it makes them a shitload of money.

I have a feeling that this Butler trade doesn't happen and that some other trade comes out of left field that none of us were expecting. We are going to be either "This is awesome!" or "We are so screwed!". Most likely it will start out as the former and by summer it will be the latter. Mark it down.

Obviously, you know it's not all the fans. I'd be surprised if it's more than 50% who want him gone.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't represent all fans😌

But in the end, I guess we're only fans after all
