I agree. There are just too many holes in the roster for Book to be successful here. If you could guarantee that the Suns would be able to find those from the ashes of what's left with their assets, then keep him. I just don't think that's even close to realistic though...unfortunately.ShelC wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 11:13 amBook needs a big who plays like a big. He needs a Pau to his Kobe. KD is essentially a 7ft SG. But Book needs a true PG who can run a team and a legit 2way big. Fill in the rest with athletic defenders and shooters. Easier said than done, but that's the model IMO.

Yup…. Hence why I think AD in Dallas with Kyrie could be pretty deadly. I don’t agree on the trade at all from a longevity standpoint but those two have a lot more potential than Luka and kyrie. It’s just a shame DA didn’t work out for us.ShelC wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 11:13 amBook needs a big who plays like a big. He needs a Pau to his Kobe. KD is essentially a 7ft SG. Booker is really just a prolific scorer. He's not the centerpiece for a championship contender, he's the second or better yet, third guy. Anyone who thinks he can be a #1 guy is fooling themselves.
And as long as they pair Booker in the backcourt with another defensive sieve like Tyus Jones they aren't getting anywhere.

Ayton's problem is he's happy just collecting a check, smoking pot and playing video games. He's certainly not the only player in the league that thinks that way, but you can't depend on him because he has zero motor.

He's a borderline All-Star who seems to have plateaued.

Re: Off-season Plans
Jerry Colangelo was very good about not falling in love with his players. Only three long-time Suns finished their careers here - Dick Van Arsdale, Alvan Adams and Kevin Johnson. Hey traded Connie Hawkins, Paul Silas, Paul Westphal, Charlie Scott, Dennis Johnson, Truck Robinson and Larry Nance.
There's going to be a time to trade Durant and Booker, and they have to be willing to pull the trigger when that time comes.

Well you can’t have the OKC makeup without SGA…he’s one of a kind. Booker can’t replicate him. That’s my point.

Technically speaking, Dan Majerle. The Bobster wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 1:10 pmOnly three long-time Suns finished their careers here - Dick Van Arsdale, Alvan Adams and Kevin Johnson.
And Joe Proski. You didn’t say players.

Majerle (and Westphal) were both traded away however and just brought back for a victory lap.Cap wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 1:39 pmTechnically speaking, Dan Majerle. The Bobster wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 1:10 pmOnly three long-time Suns finished their careers here - Dick Van Arsdale, Alvan Adams and Kevin Johnson.

Add Nash to this list of players he traded. The Bobster wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 1:10 pmJerry Colangelo was very good about not falling in love with his players. Remember when Googs almost died on the team bus?
Re: Off-season Plans
Yup. Came very close to literally finishing his career with us.
Who was it who first noticed the problem and sounded the alarm?

It almost feels as though his prime was a couple of years ago and he's plateaued since. I wouldn't say he's in decline but I'm not optimistic that he'll get any better now. Re: Off-season Plans
I still remember how great Ayton and Bridges were doing and the team was gelling the last week or two before we traded for KD. It’s sad.Superbone wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 10:41 amI will also give Jeremy his flowers. As frustrating as Ayton is, the trade didn't work out. We'd be better off having kept Ayton and Camara. Of course, we'd also have been a much better team if we hadn't made the Durant and Beal trades. A diminished Chris Paul would have been much better for this team. Just from a leadership perspective alone.
Ishbia swung for the fences and popped out on a weak fly behind the plate. Let's see how he recovers...or not. I'm not sure how you can watch this team and think Durant is the answer. Are we really going to re-sign him to another contract?
And due to the Paul for Beal trade, we are stuck with Beal for two more full seasons if he chooses. Smart man getting that NTC. Only him and LeBron have that assurance in the entire NBA.

Shoulda gotten MVP for that. Googs’ life is more valuable than wins.
