I have gotten by just fine in my life by basically completely ignoring everything Stephen A. Smith has ever said or done. It seems like I can keep doing that in this case.

Bummer for Cleveland, who had a really special 2024-25 season but may be in for some bumps next year.

Tom Thibodeau thanks New York City, Knicks fans in New York Times ad
Despite being fired from his "dream job" after a breakthrough season, Thibodeau is all class

Add in… Dame, Tatum, and kyrie all being out creates some peculiar situations for sure. Just curious which ones are buyers or sellers with their situation.

If KD were smart he'd try to get traded out East. You can pretty much just show up and make the play-in out there. A team that added KD could theoretically become a top-5 team in the East almost immediately.

Wonder if Ott would want Garland and whatever else for KD and if KD would go to Cleveland.

I would love to find a way to get Garland and Allen, but we’d definitely need to add something in that case. KD and Grayson for Garland and Allen? We’d need to be out of the 2nd apron first though.

Too bad the two billionaire owners act like spoiled brats and I highly doubt would ever trade with each other. I would love to take Garland

If I'm Cleveland I'm pretty happy with how things are going and not looking to make major deals - and trading for a $50 million player is a pretty major deal.

It's usually going to be the teams like MInnesota, Dallas, the Clippers, Miami and Memphis who have been winners but have kind of plateaued and teams with a lot of talent looking to make a splash and move up to being a contender, like Houston, San Antonio, Detroit or Orlando.

If Garland is only out 4-5 months that means he should be back around the beginning of the regular season.

Steven Adams resigns with Houston. I kind of liked him as an FA target, but alas.

Maybe I'm looking at it cross-eyed, but I feel like this hurts us a bit. I was really hoping we could trade with Orlando and give them Beal. They seemed like they really needed a shooting guard who could go get them some buckets, and I thought they might be willing to give us some assets for Beal. But Bane is better, and now they are probably set. They also gave away a bunch of their picks, which I was hoping we would try to pilfer.

That’s completely crazy for Bane, right? This should help on the Durant trade?

No one's taking Beal but I thought we could move Allen or Royce to Orlando. Or maybe flip Vassell/Green there if they came over in a deal. I like Bane for Orlando. Not sure what Memphis is planning. I don't know if this helps or hurts the KD market. Probably doesn't affect it. I had a hard time matching salaries unless there's a 3way trade somewhere but JJJ and some of those picks for KD is a great place to start.
