PG-Book-Gillespie
SG- Green, Allen, Brea
SF- Brooks- Royce
PF- Dunn, NHD, Fleming
C- Willams, Oso, Richards, Maluach
Hmm. Would still like to trade Royce and Grayson for a big wing.

Mmmh HOU just did trade a pick of value, and I am sure more draft capital could have been extracted if you don't take Brooks, but even if that's not the case, expirings/unguaranteed money (Landale's $8M) instead of Brooks reduce redundancies, allow more room for the youth you have at the wings and give you more flexibility to keep building the roster next season and beyond. And in the context of buying out Beal, aiming for Landale's contract in particular makes it much more doable to just waive him without the need to stretch.TOO wrote: ↑Wed Jul 16, 2025 2:34 pmNobody was gonna offer any picks of value for KD, a bad team wasn't going to trade for him. Expirings do what exactly? We'd stink with no draft picks, what's the point. Id rather they at least try to be competitive while we trudge through this no picks.Ring_Wanted wrote: ↑Wed Jul 16, 2025 1:13 pmAgreed. To me the way to go in a KD trade was expiring/unguaranteed crap, youth and picks. Green and Brooks really solve none of the problems this roster has had over the last two seasons, except a little of the missing "toughness" if you want to apply that to Brooks.Split T wrote: ↑Wed Jul 16, 2025 1:07 pmI just wish they didn’t play the middle…if the point was to get out of the tax…why are we pretending to want to compete this year? Why didn’t we prioritize youth and picks for KD…why Brooks?
I don’t expect to see us utilize our new found team building avenues…not this year. It’s a 1 year tax reset in a year we don’t own our 1st(or any 1st for that matter). That kinda sucks…and now it will be harder to build a contender around Booker in his prime because we have 23 million in dead cap each year…
There was no good option…but I would’ve preferred a Grayson salary dump or maybe moving off Jalen Green for savings. Or better yet, we should’ve saved money in the KD trade. Get under the apron that way…maybe you can’t get all the way out of the tax, but I don’t care about the tax, that only impacts Ishbia’s wallet. Getting out of the 2nd apron is more crucial and we could’ve done that without a stretch.
I just think this ends in a Booker trade or Booker on a team with a 1st round exit ceiling…we need a miracle at this point.
Re: What do you think the suns do next after Beal is bought out?
Ya I feel like you could’ve replaced Brooks with Landale and Whitmore and maybe got your 2027 pick back.
Re: What do you think the suns do next after Beal is bought out?
I don't think Landale fits, but Whitmore might have been nice. It seems the Suns wanted Brooks. I'm not a fan personally. Even if I ignore his antics, his hero-ball offensive play style can really hurt a team. However, knowing the Suns want to change their culture to be more effort/defense oriented, I can see how they think he can help with that. He's better than the alternative, Pat B. I'll remain cautiously optimistic that maybe he will work out.
Re: What do you think the suns do next after Beal is bought out?
Landale would’ve just been a contract, not someone we were acquiring for any basketball…though he would’ve allowed us to move Richards
Re: What do you think the suns do next after Beal is bought out?
That's just silly. Grayson is a reliable 40% 3-point shooter on a decent contract. $18M is just a bit above the MLE.
Go Suns!

But GS is also loaded at small SG(Curry, Podz, Hield)
Re: What do you think the suns do next after Beal is bought out?
I don't know what they could possibly see in Kuminga but the fact that they've liked him for a while is scary. He's the kind of bonehead move a bad FO makes.
Re: What do you think the suns do next after Beal is bought out?
The way this has all played out makes me wonder why this wasn't done on July 1st. Beal could have gotten more money (and given back more) and we would have had the entire offseason to make moves with our newfound flexibility. Not great.
Precious Achiuwa, Dalano Banton, Batum, Chris Boucher, Amir Coffey, Tre Jones, Laravia, Mamukelashvili, Tre Mann, De'Anthony Melton, Minott, Nance, Chris Paul, GP2, T. Prince, Reed, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Tate, Watford, Yabusele
Re: What do you think the suns do next after Beal is bought out?
Him and Green would be quite the pair.
Re: What do you think the suns do next after Beal is bought out?
Seems like Beal wasn't bothered by how long this took. He's a turd.
Re: What do you think the suns do next after Beal is bought out?
I have a few friends who are die hard Houston fans… I think Brooks has toned down his antics a fair bit this past year and no longer shoots everything in front of him. I do think there needs to be a bit of an edge for a player who lags in talent to succeed in the NBA so I’m actually cautiously optimistic about the acquisition. If he doesn’t revert to his Memphis ways I think he might be one of the biggest reasons we succeed this coming year.Carno wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 7:03 amI don't think Landale fits, but Whitmore might have been nice. I know it’s not prediction time but I’m hoping we at least match last season’s record with half the payroll, and maybe even push 41 wins.
Re: What do you think the suns do next after Beal is bought out?
I think Kuminga is probably not a championship level guy, but I get taking a chance if the price is right. We are pretty lacking in talent. GS wasn’t ever really bought into Kuminga and didn’t give him much of a chance. We are going to be pretty desperate for offense I think and we can give Kuminga an opportunity he didn’t get in GS. Now he needs to do other stuff that he didn’t do in GS to be a good player, but that’s the risk you’re taking. He wouldn’t be available if he was already doing those things. You’d hope he’d look at someone like Aaron Gordon and realize that’s the path he wants to go, but he might just choose to be thicker Oubre.
Re: What do you think the suns do next after Beal is bought out?
Yes, but much less than Brooks which is who he’s really replacing in this hypothetical
