Kyler Murray is a fraud.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

A little fraud
Re: Cardinals
I don’t think he’s a fraud…he’s talented…not elite though. Offense wasn’t exactly the problem yesterday
Re: Cardinals
The penalties were the problem in the first half. They killed drives and allowed the Panthers to keep driving. Absolutely killed the Cardinals. Kyler isn't him.

Kyler has absolutely no vision or pocket presence. It's a 5 yard pass or a scramble and then maybe he'll randomly find someone on a broken play . Always has been. He blows.

Re: Cardinals
I don't have a problem with most of the turnovers, although some of his decisions have been very questionable at times, the thing that pisses me off is when he gets pressured in the pocket and just decides to go down. Self preservation is smart, but how many times have we just seen him basically give up and tackle himself for a loss?specialsauce wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2024 7:48 amKyler has absolutely no vision or pocket presence. I don't know if they can win with him because they have a huge shortage of game changers on their roster, so there's not much help for him, but I haven't seen anything to convince me they can win with him.

Re: Cardinals
Not a Cards fan, but I think Murray, like Mayfield and Darnold is just a certain scenario away from being very very good. Elite OL is needed for sure, also a coach that knows how to play to his abilities would help. He's got the talent, he's just on the wrong franchise.
Re: Cardinals
I think it’s time to move on…I heard it said they could potentially get a 1st for him as the 2025 QB class isn’t good. Don’t know what AZ would do at QB next year though. Would likely have to have a throw away year to draft a new one in 2026

Kirk Cousins as a stop gap
Re: Cardinals
Ok, I have to admit that I'm pretty excited about this year's team. They addressed their major holes and have a very balanced and talented team. I expect their defense to be a top 10 defense and to push for 12 wins and a playoffs.

Ah man…. (This is totally in jest) You must be a newer cards fan. I’ve learned when I set up expectations high they go and rip my heart out…. But do agree it’s looking a lot more promising.

Yeah, that's what I thought to start last Suns season and look how that turned out. I do hope the best for you though. And not a fools gold start like the Suns had. Made the decline that much worse.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

How much cap space did we leave untouched? Oh, a lot?
Same old story, different season.
You will not see a title until there is a QB and owner change.
I would've drafted Shadeur in the fourth round if I was the Cards. Low risk high reward. They are only delaying their opportunity to contend by wasting another season with mr small hands call of duty at the helm
Re: Cardinals
Nah, I've been a Cards fan since '89, so long-time sufferer, haha. With this new regime, it looks like they are building correctly and for long-term success. I'm disappointed that BJ Ojulari isn't back yet, and Walter Nolen is going to miss the first 4 games, but think they have the depth and talent to withstand this part of the schedule with those guys still getting healthy.

Say it with me....
SAME OLD KYLER SAME OLD CARDINALS
Kyler yet again, new season, continues to be unable to make the easy passes. Had MHJ for a wide open fucking 99 yard TD and misses him.
Missed McBride on easy throws twice in a row.
He is incapable of putting together a complete game. Has a few good drives and then loses focus or gets timid, and we're always praying the D can hold up enough for us to squeak by a shitty team. Kyler has a special way to make a win feel like a loss with his craptastic offense

1. It's never easy to win in NO, let alone a season opener. They haven't lost the first game of the season since 2018.
2. Going East and playing a team in the early time slot is always difficult for a West Coast team.
3. You may think that the Saints are shitty team, but they have a lot of very good players. Kamara, Cooks, Olava, Shaheed on offense and they have 4 1st rounders on their offensive line.
4. Kellen Moore as HC & OC along with Brandon Staley at DC are very good coaches, who employ very creative ways to attack the opposition. Kellen has a very good record and has scored over 40 points vs Gannon defenses in the past. Kyler has never beaten a Brandon Staley defense.
5. Whenever there is an opponent that is basically entirely new, there isn't any film on what exactly they will do or what tendencies the team in it's formation will use. This uncertainty and chaos makes a team like that very dangerous, no matter how bad you think they are.
6. The plan to employ quick passes against the Cardinals defense that ran a soft zone was very smart. It negated any type of pass rush that the Cardinals would send at Rattler.
7. Kyler was suffering from an illness and was up at 4am on the toilet.
8. The Cardinals looked rusty, and committed a lot of mistakes that they will be able to clean up(most likely...hopefully) by the next game.
9. Who cares how you win, when you come out of it with a 'W' in the NFL.
10. The hookup with Marvin on the possible 97 yard TD that was off, was clearly a miscommunication. Marvin continued on the flatter route, and Kyler expected him to change directions to goal post without any defense over the top, like Marvin did vs the Rams last season. So, who exactly was at fault?
11. They also deployed an uptempo strategy, which was smart with some of our Dlinemen on IR, and older guys we have like Calais Campbell and Dalvin Tomlinson. They attempted to gas us, and they nearly did.

Re: Cardinals
We've been through multiple head coaches, multiple coordinators and cycled through wide receivers. The constant is Kyler. He cannot consistently make the right play. He misses or miscommunicates on the few times a game you have a chance to make a huge play that can change the entire dynamic of the game. So it was MHJ fault this time? Years prior it was always Hollywoods fault, Hopkins fault, AJ Greens fault (ok, he actually sucked). I can't wait to see a different QB at the helm. The years go by and the pieces surrounding all change yet we have the same tired excuses for Kyler Murray.In2ition wrote: ↑Wed Sep 10, 2025 7:07 amI'm not happy with the crappy play calling or how it functions. Again this is the same stuff that's been spewed to start every season in Kyler's tenure. We have a weak schedule again to start, we'll rattle off sloppy wins to inflate our record and make us look better than we actually are (terrible). Then the competition will increase and Kyler's inevitable second half of season collapse will rear its ugly head again, and suddenly those ugly wins that felt like losses are actual losses now.8. The Cardinals looked rusty, and committed a lot of mistakes that they will be able to clean up(most likely...hopefully) by the next game.

You were correct a long time ago as wellIn2ition wrote: ↑Sun Jan 08, 2023 8:42 pmI'm going to say something unpopular, but I think they get a new GM & Coach, and should draft a QB. CJ Stroud would be my choice rn. Murray is too small and his best attribute is quickness, and now he is probably out for the entire next season, and he may never have the quickness again.
Re: Cardinals
Maybe Suns basketball fandom hasn't callused you up enough for football fandom? Maybe you should just stop watching, if you are going to be this negative about a win. One play seemed to set you off. The guys played like 7 plays in the pre-season. I think it's nearly expected to have a little rust. In most cases, teams make their biggest jump from game 1 to game 2. I'll just let the season play out, before hitting the panic button.specialsauce wrote: ↑Wed Sep 10, 2025 11:56 amWe've been through multiple head coaches, multiple coordinators and cycled through wide receivers. 9. Who cares how you win, when you come out of it with a 'W' in the NFL.
They are currently in the 3rd year of their rebuild and regime of Monti Ossenfort as GM and Jonathan Gannon as HC. After deciding to clear the books and gut the roster, by emphasizing drafting and developing talent, they are using the Philadelphia Eagles & Detroit Lions rebuild blueprint. So, they are coming into what would be the 2023 season for Detroit, or 2022 season for Philly.
Let's look at how the 2nd season of their rebuild went last year 2024:
1. Lost their 5 best DLinemen for nearly the entire season. Name a single team in the NFL that could overcome that and still thrive?
2. Were one of the worst at both getting pressure the QB and stopping the run in the NFL.
3. Played the 5th toughest schedule in the NFL last season, and 3rd toughest per Sapp index.
4. Played the toughest schedule for a QB last season, per analytics.
5. MHJ was bullied by the physical corners in the NFL(was unexpectedly jammed at the line, bumped off of his routes, & struggled on 50/50 balls) and didn't have the chemistry with Kyler his rookie season.
6. Lost close games against some of the best teams in the league last season(Bills in Buffalo, Detroit when they were healthy, Vikings in MN, and Rams in LA when they were healthy).
7. Lost their right side of the OLine with injuries in the 2nd half of the season, and Isaiah Adams wasn't quite ready in his rookie year.
8. Had the best +/- in the division.
9. Actually played more like a 10 win team, per analytics. They were competitive in every game besides 2.
10. They were 7th in rushing yards per game, 2nd in yards per carry, and 2nd in the NFL in run blocking win rate.
11. They were 15th in the league in points allowed, and 12th in DVOA.
12. They were 2nd in the league in penalties received, which is a testament to discipline and coaching.
Let's look at what they addressed going into this season 2025:
1. Added talent, athleticism, depth and leadership to the DLine.
a. Signed Josh Sweat, Calais Campbell, Dalvin Tomlinson to shore up their run defense, provide leadership to the DLine and pressure on the QB.
b. Traded for Baron Browning(actually happened last season, but he didn't play much after having to ramp up) to provide QB pressure.
c. Getting back Darius Robinson, who was their best DLinemen in training camp last year as a rookie, but missed most of the year with an injury sustained during training camp.
d. Getting back BJ Ojulari, who was expected to get double digit sacks last season, but was lost for the season with a tore ACL in training camp. Was going to be their best pass rusher last year.
e. Drafted Walter Nolen and Jordan Burch in the 1st and 3rd rounds to add to the DLine.
2. Upgraded their Secondary.
a. Drafted Will Johnson, Denzel Burke, and Kitan Crawford for their Secondary.
b. Expect 2nd year jump for Max Melton & Dadrian "Rabbit" Taylor-Demerson in their 2nd year. Elijah Jones missed his entire rookie season with injury
c. Jalen Thompson was dealing with an ankle injury all season and is healthy again.
d. The additions to the DLine should greatly improve the production from the Secondary, as they won't have to cover forever.
3. Playing the 5th easiest schedule, based on win percentage from last season.
4. Playing the easiest schedule for a QB, per analytics.
5. Also playing the most dome games in the league(13) this season.
6. MHJ put on 15 lbs of muscle this offseason and worked every day with Kyler on building their chemistry.
7. Isaiah Adams, Tip Reiman and Trey Benson are looking like they made their 2nd year leap, from all indications at training camp.
8. They've added in motion to diversified the route trees for MHJ.
9. This is the most talented, deepest, most balanced, and best rosters that Kyler has ever played on. When he's had talented rosters, with a good defense, he's won a lot of games and looked like one of the best QBs in the league.

It's not one play. It's the same play we've seen Kyler miss time and time again. Same Kyler, looooooong list of excuses for someone who's never won a playoff game
