The extension might be problematic, but the actual current contract is pretty great. Only 1 year with a team option if he booms.

I just hope we're not the ones trading for and giving him the extension he's looking for. Pretty sure we could flip something like Allen and Richards for him now.
If the Warriors were willing to take Allen and Richards he'd be a sun already, ain't happening

You have to at least respect Beal for his understanding. And it sounds like the Suns handled it very well. But let's not forget that Beal got a LOT of money here for very little payoff for us.

Bradley Beal Respects Suns' Decision to Waive Him
Bradley Beal was understanding of why Phoenix moved on from him.

Brad Beal, if nothing else, is a very smart and thoughtful player. I think he completely gets it. And I don't have any hate for the guy despite how badly it worked out. I don't think it is his fault that he wasn't a great fit here; we should not have acquired him. And I don't think it is his fault that his body has given out on him and he's no longer a dependable NBA player over a whole season. I think he trains and takes care of his health, it is sometimes just out of your control. We've rehashed it to death already, but I think he earnestly tried to fit in here. He deferred to Book and KD; he accepted a bench role. He played hard. He just wasn't the right guy for our roster. Once we decided he had to go, he wasn't willing to waive his NTC, which some could be mad about. But I don't know why he would do that when he had no incentive to do it; he had earned that contract, why just toss its provisions away? I hated his time here, I hated (in retrospect) the deal to acquire him, I hate that we had to waive him and get nothing for it, ... but I don't hate him. It's not his fault we effed up.

Beal never came off as a bad guy, just not someone I want on my team to go to war with.

What a waste of money though. But that's mostly on the Suns.

Waste of money, and more importantly, draft picks and cap space. The negative effects will still be felt for years.
