So we'd turn down Giannis for a package of say, Green, Allen and some combo of Oso/Dunn/Kham/Fleming?
Yep. Wrong age bracket

I would trade Booker for him 1 for 1.
He aligns with Book for the next 3-4 years. Book will be 31, Giannis 32. If we can re-sign CG and Goodie, keep Allen and two of those young front court guys - say, Oso and Fleming - plus have Williams, Highsmith and Brooks...that's a pretty balanced rotation IMO that has a good mix of vets and young guys to continue to develop.

Absolutely. Green, Allen, and someone like Royce -- yes. Green, Allen, and Williams S&T -- yes. But leave Oso, Dunn, Man-Man, and Fleming out of it.
Without 1st rounders to add to the deal, it'd probably take a combo of those young guys.

We can trade 2 1sts on draft night…I’d want to hold Fleming and Maluach…but I’m not holding up a Giannis trade over Dunn…Oso is tough as I don’t think he fits well with Giannis, so even though I like him, I’d be willing to move him. Truth be told, we won’t get him. Even if we are willing to include Fleming/Maluach, our offer will get beat.

Haven't we learned our lesson? Build organically.

I don't think the owner thinks that way. Maybe the past failures will change that.

Just because we made bad decisions with KD and Beal doesn't mean we should automatically dismiss a Giannis deal. Not saying it's a no-brainer to try and get him, just that we should consider the option.

There's no way we have a competitive offer, but there's really no one outside of Booker who is untouchable for Giannis in my opinion. You don't give up EVERYTHING like we did for KD, but if Milwaukee said, sure, we'll give you Giannis for Dunn, Maluach, Oso, and Fleming, you figure that out. And I like all of those guys.

Reportedly Milwaukee turned down Herro/Ware and a couple 1sts at the deadline. That’s the offer you have to beat.

Honestly it’s not that far from Green/Maluach/2 1sts

Herro is better than Green, but Maluach has a higher ceiling than Ware.

The dream trade would be Green/Williams/Dunn/2 1sts

Then you go:

Gillespie/Booker/Brooks/Fleming/Giannis
Goodwin/Allen/Highsmith(or Royce)/Oso/Maluach

I saw someone on Twitter call out that the whole Giannis saga is playing out a lot like Dwight Howard's final days in Orlando. A lot of similarities.

On paper Giannis is absolutely worth pursuing. He's the culture we're going for personified. The guy plays and works harder than anyone in the league. I have major concerns with his health, though. I think it's a big enough flag to walk away from pursuing him altogether.

It’s just the price tag for me. I’m sure I’d be unwilling to give up enough to get him…like in my dream scenario up there, you probably gotta flip Williams and Dunn for Maluach and Fleming to get Milwaukee on board and I just wouldn’t be willing to do that.

I’ve been trying to think what cornerstone or pseudo cornerstone type players might come available in the next year or 2 and here’s what I got:

Jalen Williams? Maybe if OKC falters the next two seasons, but they’d be looking for an upgrade.

Julius Randle? Probably

De’Aaron Fox? Maybe if Harper blows up and they need more shooting.

Austin Reaves? He’s unrestricted this summer and may want to move on.

Sabonis? Definitely

Lauri/JJJ? Possibly

Zion? Definitely

KAT? Possibly

Harden/Mitchell/Mobley? All possible imo

Ingram? Potentially

Paolo? Maybe

Embiid/PG? 100% available haha

Giannis? Yes

Who else?

I don’t want to go all in again either, but at some point if we want to win with Booker, we will have to add more top end talent.

Totally agreed, it would be the KD saga all over again if we break the bank for him, even if neither Fleming or Maluach surpasses him as players, Giannis is over 30 and about to lose his athleticism. And we all know that the minute he puts on PHX jersey, the whistle will change all those FTA to offensive fouls or no-calls. Not even KD was able to overcome this, he can testify first hand how powerful the PHX anti-whistle is.

Besides, are this deals considering at least an extend-and-trade scenario, or just an expiring Giannis?

I feel like you’d extend him, but it’s gotta be somewhere he wants to extend. Milwaukee at this point is just gonna send him to whoever has the best offer. I doubt they consider his wishes.

I don’t even understand why they let it drag on like this for either side. Neither side wanted to be the bad guy and now both are.

I don't think the Magic would move Paolo but Franz Wagner might be the one they make available if they're trying to shake things up. He's someone I'd be interested in as a 4/3 who can create offense, rebound and make plays for others.

Randle, Zion, Ingram I'd pass on. I'd probably pass on Sabonis too. KAT would cost a lot, in assets and the extension he has coming.

I thought about making it Paolo or Franz…I’d rather have Franz too.

I’m kinda talking myself into Zion, if only for the price. I don’t think we’d have to give up a lot and the potential reward is high. He offers our offense what we need most, rim pressure…you just gotta pray he is somewhat healthy.

No more big splashes, please! Let's just keep building on what we have. Keep bringing in and upgrading guys that fit the new paradigm. I even like Coffey and Highsmith. We are quite deep right now. Pay Gillespie and make a decision on Williams. He's a solid but not spectacular big. Still better than any center we've had in a while including a former #1 overall. Tricky though with Man Man coming along so well. I want him to get consistent minutes next year. Also tricky due to Oso's valuable but limited skill set. Brings some great things but then hurts on others. If nothing else, he needs to bring his FT % up to 65% or so, minimum.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Interesting article from Brooks. I'm hoping he and the team can come through on what he's saying. Lately, nobody is scared of playing the Suns in the playoffs. Let's see if they have another gear. Hard to imagine we are playing possum. I'll just say I'd much prefer to play the Spurs in the first round than the Thunder.

Must be some rumors going around. I WOULD include Brooks in a Milwaukee trade package.

It doesn’t have to be a big KD sized splash, but you gotta splash at some point. Highsmith, Gillespie, Goodwin, etc. are great, but that level of player is not going to win you a championship. At some point you have to level up the top end talent. Just gotta do it at the right time and not sacrifice too much for it.

Hopefully we get lucky and someone takes a leap into stardom that we aren’t anticipating, but we should always be looking to upgrade the talent.

I did specify big splashes. Some friendly water in the face is fine.
