Re: Suns pursuing free agent Paul Millsap
There's a price at which I would be okay with having Millsap. But that price probably is less than the price he'd actually command to come here. I really don't want to max him out, not even for 2-3 years. He took a little less on his Atlanta deal, so maybe he would accept a reasonable contract to come here. Otherwise I am not super excited about him.
Re: Suns pursuing free agent Paul Millsap
Gambo said we wouldn't be offering the max. Not sure what we're offering at this point.Cap wrote:If we invest a max contract in Millsap, I'm gonna be pretty upset. He's not worth what he would cost us.

+1. It's not my money. I'd enjoy watching him mix with our guys. We're not winning a championship with him but that's fine.TheOriginalOriginal wrote:Not really. Only because even if we do sign Millsap, his fit on this team is pretty good, and if Chriss shows he can handle defending bigs, then I think the team could improve a fair amount. Trying to look on the brightside i guess.carey wrote:Much too quiet. Anyone else worried?TheOriginalOriginal wrote:Have McD and co. met with Millsap yet? It's too quiet.

OK. Look at that tweet. Willing to absorb contracts for assets. IOW. Our cap space is now being auctioned to the highest bidder for picks and young assets.
Second part. Chandler, Dudley, Barbosa, Bledsoe, Knight. All on the trading block.
I am all for dealing Chandler and keeping Len. If we are going young, why not just commit to it, even Len.

Re: Suns pursuing free agent Paul Millsap
Which teams are looking to dump players with picks to free up space? The Knicks with Noah? If Chandler wants to be here I'd keep him and let Len walk depending on the price. Dudley can go, Knight needs to. I don't know about Bledsoe. Chriss, Bender, TJ, Ulis need their playing time to get better. I'm fine keeping everyone except Knight tbh. Let it be a development year and come up with a system, offense around Booker, gain an identity defensively, and just improve.JCSunsfan wrote:OK. Look at that tweet. Thats my question too, who is looking to dump vets?ShelC wrote:Which teams are looking to dump players with picks to free up space? The Knicks with Noah? The Knicks might have dumped Noah in a trade from Porzingis.TheOriginalOriginal wrote:Thats my question too, who is looking to dump vets?ShelC wrote:Which teams are looking to dump players with picks to free up space? Knicks, rockets, pelicans, twolves are all teams I could see trying to create cap space for more free agents. Cavs, jazz, blazers, thunder, raptors, warriors are all in potential luxury tax zone now or near future and might want to shed money.

Re: Suns pursuing free agent Paul Millsap
Four players who have been mentioned as available -
Chandler Parsons, MEM - 3 years, $72.3 million
Ryan Anderson, HOU - 3 years, $61.2 million
Allen Crabbe, POR - 3 years, $56.4 million
Joakim Noah, NYK - 3 years, $55.6 million
Reggie Jackson, DET - 3 years, $51.1 million
I wouldn't have any interest in Parsons, due to his knee problems.

Re: Suns pursuing free agent Paul Millsap
Ugly deals, but I'd flip knight for all of them if they attach another asset. Knight is about 3/40, right? I'd need a big time asset from Houston or Memphis though.

Re: Suns pursuing free agent Paul Millsap
Here we go:
Phx gets: Noah and Channing Frye
NY gets: Love, JR Smith, Knight
Cleveland gets: Bledsoe and Melo
We wipe Frye's deal off the books at the end of the year. We take on Noah which sucks but figure we can get a pick back from the Knicks and/or Cleveland. We'll be able to move Chandler or get Noah back on the court and work up his value at some point. Cleveland picks up Bledsoe, an LBJ buddy, and moves Kyrie to the 2 to add more speed, scoring and ball handling into the lineup. Melo is Melo. NY gets KLove and can give it a go with Brandon Knight, who can potentially become a low risk high reward player for them. And yes, you also have the return of JR Smith.

We get really hosed in that deal unless we're coming off with multiple firsts. Noah makes a ton of cash & can't play anymore.

Nope. Unless we are getting unprotected number 1's for multiple years, why touch Noah AND move Bledsoe in the same deal?
